Water Hardness Test Strip

Water Hardness Test Strip

The Water Hardness test strip is calibrated at 0, 50, 125, 250, and 500ppm, and is also calibrated at 0, 3, 7, 15, and 30 grains per gallon. Determine whether you have hard or soft water in just seconds. The Water Hardness test strip measures water hardness due to calcium carbonate.

Water Hardness Test Strip

  1. Remove one test strip from the amber bag, and reseal the bag as soon as possible.
  2. Do not touch the test pad with your fingers.
  3. Completely immerse the test pad into the specimen for 1-2 seconds.
  4. Remove and compare to the color chart within 15 seconds.

NOTE: The pH of the water can affect the reaction of the Water Hardness test strip. The test paper is buffered to provide the optimal pH for a color reaction, however, highly acidic water may not fall within the boundaries of this buffer. Therefore, if the water being tested is highly acidic, we recommend you alkalize the water sample to neutralize the pH before testing for hardness.
