Water Treatment

  • Portable incubation of up to 45 dipslides. The Ranger Dipslide Incubator is designed for life in the field or in vehicles with its robust case resistant to oil and chemical environments. It can even be fit to an auxiliary battery so the incubator is a permanent installation. The incubator is fully solid state with no moving parts, and element switching is transistorized and designed for long-term operation. Safety is a priority, so the Ranger runs from 12 volts DC, and the mains stays at the adapter/plug, reducing risk in situations where the incubator could be used with liquid samples or wet hands. The Heat Reservoir Chassis technology holds latent heat during operation. By surrounding the chamber with a precision aluminum chassis, we ensure superb and even heat distribution without a fan. The chassis also stores thermal inertia so larger, cold liquid loads (such as the Coliform tests) are brought up to temperature quickly. It offers faster and more accurate results ahead of any similar products, and the efficient design ensures that drain on the vehicle battery, while on 12v supply, is kept to a minimum.
  • Portable incubation of up to 25 dipslides. The Challenger Dipslide Incubator case is easy to wipe clean and robust enough for most hostile work environments. The ergonomic location of the controls under the lid eliminates the risk of accidental adjustment while the unit is in operation. The incubator is fully solid state with no moving parts, and element switching is transistorized and designed for constant long-term operation. Electronic and mechanical safety protection shuts down the unit in the unlikely event of overheating.
  • Portable incubation of up to 8 dipslides. The Discovery Dipslide incubator is designed for life in the field or vehicles. The Temperature Control Technology is a fully solid state with no moving parts, and element switching is transistorized and designed for constant long-term operation. The heat reservoir chassis holds latent heat during operation, adding thermal inertia to keep the temperature stable even when larger, cold liquid loads are introduced. Safety is a priority, so risk has been reduced in situations where the incubator could be used with liquid samples or wet hands.
  • Portable incubation of 2 dipslides. The Gnat Dipslide Incubator is the easiest to operate. Just plug it in and within 30 minutes, it will heat up to the pre-set temperature and incubate until you turn it off. There are no additional buttons or switches to mess with. An internal fuse and over-temperature protection are built-in to provide safe and reliable, long-term operation.
  • Nutrient TTC Agar is a general purpose (relatively non-selective) medium, which will support the growth of a wide variety of organisms. Suitable for cultivation of both aerobes and anaerobes. Aerobic coliform bacteria can be detected by their ability to reduce the TTC dye to a red-colored formozan dye. Bacterial colonies appear as red dots on an otherwise yellow medium.
  • Nutrient-TTC Agar is a general purpose (relatively non-selective) medium, which will support the growth of a wide variety of organisms. Suitable for cultivation of both aerobes and anaerobes. Aerobic coliform bacteria can be detected by their ability to reduce the TTC dye to a red-colored formozan dye. Bacterial colonies appear as red dots on an otherwise yellow medium. MacConkey Agar is both selective and differential. It is used to differentiate between Gram negative bacteria while inhibiting the growth of most Gram positive bacteria. The medium also differentiates between lactose-fermenting coliforms (Lac (+)) and lactose non-fermenters (Lac (-)), which include potential pathogens.

Aerobic coliform bacteria can be detected by their ability to reduce the TTC dye to a red-colored formozan dye. Bacterial colonies appear as red dots on an otherwise yellow medium. R2A Agar, in combination with a lower incubation temperature and longer incubation time, stimulates the growth of stressed and chlorine-tolerant bacteria. R2A Agar is recommended in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater for pour plate, spread plate and membrane filter methods for heterotrophic counts.
  • The weekly monitoring of bacteria levels in cooling water has been recommended by many legislators and professional authorities as a visual performance indicator to both system and treatment regime. This allows the user to gauge how effective a chemical or biocide product is in the particular application, and a trend can be quickly established identifying changes and taking quick remedial action where required. The Nutrient TTC-Malt dipslide is a recommended product for testing in this industry. The general industry guide is, counts should not exceed 103. It should be noted that dipslides alone do not detect Legionella as a select microorganism, however, it is generally accepted that overall bacteria levels in excess of 104 are considered able to support Legionella and is a serious risk. Similarly, the Nutrient TTC-Malt dipslide is frequently used to test cutting fluids. Uncontrolled or excess bacteria growth in cutting fluids can cause health problems, such as skin contamination or inhalation into the respiratory tract. This issue arises as the fluid develops aerosols when sprayed against high speed rotating work-pieces, presenting serious infection risks to operators. Excess bacterial fouling can lead to reduced efficiency of the actual fluid, resulting in overheating of the work-piece and tool damage. Then of course, there are the unpleasant odors present and a change in pH of the fluid. Full details are available on the HSE website.
  • The pH 1-14 test strip (single pad) is a wide-range strip measuring in steps of 1.0 pH units, and give results in just seconds. Use the wide range pH 1-14 test strip (acid-base) when you have a diverse range of materials, and you are unsure what end of the spectrum you will land on. This strip has one pad for ease of reading and can be used in many different circumstances, including education, industry, cosmetics, water testing and more.
  • The pH 1-14 test strips (3-pad) are wide-range strips measuring in steps of 1.0 pH units, and giving results in just seconds. Use wide range pH 1-14 test strips (acid-base) when you have a diverse range of materials, and you are not sure what end of the spectrum you will land on. This strip has three pads for accuracy and can be used in many different circumstances, including education, industry, cosmetics, water testing and more. Please see notes below regarding how to read the results of a 3-pad test strip.
  • The pH 4.5-10 test strip is a medium-range strip measuring in steps of 0.5 pH units, containing three pads for enhanced accuracy and results in just seconds. The pH 4.5-10 test strip is ideal for testing slightly acidic to slightly alkaline solutions. Please see notes below regarding how to read the results of a 3-pad test strip.
  • The pH 5-9 test strip is a narrow range strip and is ideal for weak solutions, such as alkaline or rain water, measuring in steps of 1.0 pH units.
  • The Residual Chlorine test strip is for use in ensuring free chlorine levels in drinking water are sufficient to inactivate the bacteria and viruses that cause diarrheal disease, as well as ensuring the water is protected from re-contamination during storage. The strip can also be used to ensure systems have no residual free chlorine after chemical sanitization by testing for very low levels of free chlorine in solution from 0.0 ppm - 5.0 ppm. The residual chlorine test strip is accurate within 5-10% of reading the color scale. The vial is sold with an illustrative color chart, which is helpful when testing drinking water from chlorine kits in developing countries.
  • The Low Level Chlorine test strip measures residual chlorine from 0-10ppm in increments of 0-0.5-1-3-5-10 in just seconds. This test strip detects residual levels of free chlorine. It is accurate within 5-10% of reading the color scale. The strip can also be used to test for chlorine in drinking water if this is a concern, however, our Residual Chlorine test strip, which measures up to 5ppm, may be a better suited option for testing residual in drinking water.
  • The Low Level Peroxide test strip detects residual peroxides, for example, in drinking water, pools, and hot tubs where Hydrogen peroxide was used as a disinfectant. This test strip is calibrated at 0, 1, 3, 10, 50, and 100ppm, and give results in just seconds.
  • The Peroxide test strip is calibrated at 0, 100, 200, and 400ppm, and gives results in just seconds. This test strip can be used to test pools and hot tubs where peroxides, rather than chlorine, are used to sanitize. Recommended peroxide levels vary, therefore, the test strip can be used to test the concentrations users prefer.
  • The Low Level Peracetic Acid Test strip is used for testing residual levels of peracetic acid. Peracetic acid is another sanitizing agent, especially used in some segments of the food industry, such as organic produce and poultry. The Low Level Peracetic Acid test strip is calibrated at 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, and 50ppm, and gives results in just seconds.
  • The Mid Level Peracetic Acid Test strip is used for testing mid-range levels of peracetic acid. Peracetic acid is another sanitizing agent, especially used in some segments of the food industry, such as organic produce and poultry. • This test strip is calibrated at 0, 100, 250, and 500ppm, and gives results in just seconds. Peracetic acid is another sanitizing agent primarily used in some segments of the food industry, such as organic produce and poultry. The recommended strength of peracetic acid is typically 150-200ppm, however, this can vary by location. Check with your local health inspector to determine what ppm level you should be reaching.
  • This test strip is calibrated at 0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000ppm, and gives results in just seconds. Peracetic acid is another sanitizing agent, and the Peracetic Acid 0-3000ppm test strip is primarily used for applications demanding a high level of disinfection. Peracetic acid ultimately degrades to water, oxygen, and carbon dioxide, making it more environmentally-friendly than chlorine. Note: Peroxide concentration levels in diluted samples up to 5% will not interfere with the test.
  • The Extra High Level QAC Test Strip (Quaternary Ammonium Compounds) measures the range of 0-10,000 ppm in increments of 1000, 2500, 5000 and 10000 ppm, and gives results in just seconds. Check for higher levels of QAC when testing stronger solutions that kill pathogenic organisms, as opposed to testing for residual QAC with our Low Level QAC test strip, or our standard QAC Quick Response Test Strip.
  • The Water Hardness test strip is calibrated at 0, 50, 125, 250, and 500ppm, and is also calibrated at 0, 3, 7, 15, and 30 grains per gallon. Determine whether you have hard or soft water in just seconds. The Water Hardness test strip measures water hardness due to calcium carbonate.
